Temple B’nai Shalom
MISSION STATEMENT
Temple B'nai Shalom (Children of Peace) is a Reform congregation dedicated to enriching the lives of our congregants through worship, education, community, social action and support of the Jewish people and Israel. In these ways, we hope to make our love and study of Judaism our guide through the challenges of modern life.
Worship - Avodah: Our faith in God and our reliance on the feeling of community in our congregation fill our hearts, engage our minds and elevate our souls.
Education - Talmud Torah: When we teach and learn, we enrich our knowledge of our heritage and are better able to live our lives based on Jewish values and morals.
Community - Chavurah: We reach within our congregation to strengthen our temple community, and we reach outside our congregation to invite interfaith and unaffiliated families to participate in our Jewish journey of discovery.
Social Action - Tikkun Olam: We commit ourselves daily to efforts that perfect God's creation, our world, through the pursuit of justice, respect, tolerance and a concern for our environment.
Support for the State of Israel:
Peoplehood - Am Yisrael: We are part of a religious civilization that connects us with Jews all over the world. As Reform Jews, we reassert our commitment to the continued evolution of Judaism. We believe that Judaism has the power to impact people’s lives.
State of Israel – Medinat Yisrael: We actively support the State of Israel, our universal homeland. We trust that Israel continues to live by the principles of our Torah enabling it to be a “light unto the nations”.
